Of Coarse or Smooth?

When I was out shopping on Sunday, I picked up most of the China Glaze texture polishes.  I've shied away from most textures, which have been all the rage this year.  But for you reader, be prepared for my honesty.

The color I chose was Of Coarse! and it's a nice color.  The polish has a very gritty texture even in the bottle.  If you look around the rim, you can clearly see the "texture".

This is what the polish looks like on the nail without top coat.  It's a pretty cool effect.

I had to apply two coats for even coverage.

Perhaps it's just me but I hate this polish.  I feel like someone dumped sand into my polish and I don't like it.  I can't spend an entire day agitated that my polish isn't smooth anywhere.

I know there are lovers of the textured finishes but I am not one of them.  This look is not worth my sanity.

How do you feel about textured polish?

  1. I ended up liking texture polishes a lot more than I originally thought I would. I usually have an aversion to anything raised and bumpy on my nails, because I hate getting them snagged...

But most textured polishes have worked out pretty well for me with the exception of some glitters.

I personally think Of Course! looks fantastic!

    1. Thank you Lindsay! I will say that I do enjoy the smoothness of the raised texture but I don't think textures in general are for me :).

  2. Dude, I feel you. I adore the textures that have sparkle and that don't feel all bumpy and gross, like the Pixie Dusts and Julie G's. However, I hate the look and feel of the Milani and CG textures. They remind me of a 1980's park with painted concrete. Not awesome.

    1. Oh, and I also like the Liquid Sands, PD's, and Julie G's because they're easy to topcoat. Smooth and super shiny and shimmery.

  3. I like texture for a change of pace but the non-glitter versions like this one are not my favorites.

  4. This looks like blue sandpaper lol. But I think I would like it if it was in a natural color so it looked like real sandpaper. That would look cool.
